There seems to be a theme in the UK within the month of October to stop something. Primarily, this revolves around stopping something that is bad for you. Within my journey to racing in 2017, October is my start month, especially with regards to my training plan.
I, along with Tracee have spent the past month evolving my nutritional intake. This has been in the guise of eating a plant based diet. Whilst I have still be training, this has not been as structured as I would have wanted, but for a good reason – I did not know how my body was going to react to this new way of receiving nutrition. In actual fact, my body has loved it – testimant to this was how I felt when I ‘slipped off the wagon’. So, October is the start of my training for my 2 main races next year – Outlaw Half Triathlon and Outlaw Triathlon; both in Nottingham.
I have plans and I have goals, all that I will elaborate on at a later date. This week will see me increase my training to 20 hours. Now, this may seem like a large time frame (especially for an age group athlete and so early in the training process), but as I will be working aerobically throughout, I am confident that my body will be able to take this training load. This coupled with my new found nutritional plan, I am confident that I will be able to achieve the goals that I have set for both races.
So what are your plans for October? Starting your training journey for 2017, or are you still in the recovery phase from 2016?
Have a fit and healthy day
