Back in the Gym……..

Well, we finally managed to go training together today for the first time in…….too long.  It was fantastic to finally go training with my Wife.  Tracee is a big fan of weight training and it is nice to train with someone who does not have to be motivated to lift.  At the moment, the training is more technique based and we are only going to be using five compound exercises, these are:

  • Squats
  • Bench Press
  • Bent Over Row
  • Overhead Press
  • Deadlift

These are split into two training sessions that are alternated, training 3 times a week with at least 1 full day in between.

  • Squat
  • Bench Press
  • Bent Over Row
  • Squat
  • Overhead Press
  • Deadlift

For this training block we are going to utilize the 5×5 process; 5 sets for 5 reps.  This form of weight training is very good for beginners as it is simple, easy to follow process that does not try and confuse the trainee with complicated training programmes.  It is also a great way to build strength and with the recruitment of muscle fibers, additional calories and fat burning will ensue.

So, day one is completed and smiles seen throughout.  Looking forward to the next training session….., but mindful of potential DOMS in the morning!!!
